Kimberley Hole - Diamonds Field RegionThis is one of Kimberley’s major attractions : The Big Hole was once a flat-topped hill but become the largest hand-dug excavation in the world created when thousands of people searched for diamonds at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries. The hole measures 215 meters deep and has a surface area of 17 hectars with a perimeter of 1.6km. Kimberley has a wide variety of tourist attractions and museums: The Big Hole and Open Mine Museum, Flamingo Island bird breeding facility, Diggers' Memorial erected in honour of diggers past and present, Honoured Dead Memorial, Kimberley City Hall, The Kimberley Club, Harry Oppenheimer House, The Halfway House Inn drive in pub, The Star of the West One of the country's oldest pubs, William Humphreys Art Gallery, McGregor Museum, Magersfontein Battlefield and Museum, Memorial to the Pioneers of Aviation, Duggan Cronin Gallery Exhibiting indigenous cultures and lifestyles through photography, Rudd House, Dunluce An elegant home built in 1897 for Gustav Bonas.

Khoisan Rock Art - Karoo RegionThe nomadic Khoisan people left many examples of engravings found on the low ridges of dolerite rock boulders. These ancient art forms can be found on many of the farms in the Karoo region - one will have to look under the relevant town information to find out how to see these engravings.
