Kimberley Hole - Diamonds Field Region

This is one of Kimberley’s major attractions : The Big Hole was once a flat-topped hill but become the largest hand-dug excavation in the world created when thousands of people searched for diamonds at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries.  The hole measures 215 meters deep and has a surface area of 17 hectars with a perimeter of 1.6km.

Khoisan Rock Art - Karoo Region

The nomadic Khoisan people left many examples of engravings found on the low ridges of dolerite rock boulders.  These ancient art forms can be found on many of the farms in the Karoo region - one will have to look under the relevant town information to find out how to see these engravings.
